How to install the Access Controller

In a few steps we will guide you through the process of setting-up and installing an Access Controller. With your own controller you can give access for free to friends and family and let strangers buy access with credit card.

The process contains 4 distinct parts:

Prepare your hardware
Download and burn the installation CD
Perform the installation and make basic configurations
Register your access controller

Ready?
Get a standard PC with a CD to use as Access Controller
- Preferably at least a PII 350 MHz
- Preferably at least 64 MB RAM
- Preferably at least 1GB HD
- We have successfully installed and run on P166/32MB RAM
- The more power, the better!
Install an extra network adapter
- Most network adapters work fine, we recommend you one based on the RTL8139 chipset.
Download the access controller software ISO and the manual.
Burn the ISO onto a CD
Print the instruction manual, or have it otherwise available.
Before you install the access controller, make sure that the HD does not contain ANYTHING you want to keep EVERYTHING on the Access controller will be erased.
Boot the new access controller from the CD....
The installer with start...run ....finish in approximately 15mins.
When the installation is finished, the access controller beeps and open the CD tray. Remove the CD.
Power up the Access controller and connect your PC to it...if you do not get an IP address from the standard NIC...try the other network adapter (Extra).
Your IP should be in the 172.23.12.20-200 range
Once you received an IP address, this network adapter is called eth1/LAN/WLAN or public.
The other network adapter is the one you should connect to your internet connection.
The AC will try to auto configure its WAN network adapter, but if it does not succeed you need manually configure it.
Once you have connected the AC to the internet, please restart it again buy removing power and reconnecting the Access Controller...
Reconnect to the web administration interface of the access controller, and REGISTER your AC - else it will not work.
In the registration you will receive a special username and password through e-mail, that will allow you to make access vouchers.
Registration might take up to two business days.
Your access controller is now ready to serve you!
